Introduction to hand building with Shawn Dempsey Shawn Dempsey has been fascinated by all things pottery for 30 years. Working out of her studio in Round Rock, she specializes in functional hand built and wheel-thrown pottery. Learn the basics of hand building in six weeks! Students will explore the core construction techniques of pinching, coiling, and slab building before finishing their pieces with glaze. Week 1 — Pinch pots: build planters with personality. Week 2 — Coil building: go taller with coil pot pitchers. Week 3 — Slab construction: make mugs. Week 4 — Slab construction: make plates. Week 5 — Finishing touches: refine and complete your pieces so they're kiln-ready for glazing. Week 6 — Glazing: finish your work with glaze and celebrate what you've made! All clay, glazes, and firing fees are included. All studio tools and equipment are available for use during class. Each participant will keep 3–5 pieces per week. You can bring your own CLEARLY LABELLED tools. Aprons are provided but please wear shoes and clothes that can get dirty. Please keep long hair tied back and keep nails short for best results. Missed classes can be made up during any regularly scheduled class that is not full, at the instructor's discretion. 1st CLASS REQUIRED. Please see your instructor to schedule any make-ups. Items will be held for two months after your class. Please be sure to glaze and pick up your work within that window! Price: $450

Please give 3 days notice or we have a hard time filling your seat. **UNDER 3 days notice NO REFUND WILL BE GIVEN, only credit for a future class within 60 days at the studios discretion.
