6-Week Pottery Class: Intro to Wheel Throwing Looking for more time to build your skills than a 4-week class allows, without committing to a full 8 weeks? This 6-week session gives you a solid, well-paced introduction to the wheel — from your first centered ball of clay to glazed, finished pieces. Plus, you'll have dedicated open studio time built in to practice, trim, alter, and glaze on your own schedule. Class Breakdown: Week 1: Learn the basics of wheel throwing — centering, pulling, and forming cylinders. Week 2: Trimming, more cylinders, and your first try at cups and bowls. Week 3: Lidded forms and closed containers. Week 4: Add character! Learn handles, attachments, and how to alter your pots. Week 5: Finishing up — clean, trim, and prep your pieces for glaze. Week 6: Glazing day! Learn dip glazing, underglaze decoration, and finishing techniques to make your pieces pop. Included Open Studio Time: 6-week students receive up to 6 hours of open studio time to use over the course of their session. Studio time can be reserved in 1–3 hour blocks on Saturdays from 1–4 PM. Sessions must be reserved at least 48 hours in advance. Open studio hours do not roll over and expire at the end of your 6-week session. All clay, glazes, and firing fees are included. All studio tools and equipment are available for use during class. Each participant will keep 3–5 pieces per week. You can bring your own CLEARLY LABELLED tools. Aprons are provided but please wear shoes and clothes that can get dirty. Please keep long hair tied back and keep nails short for best results. Missed classes can be made up during any regularly scheduled wheel throwing class that is not full, at the instructor's discretion. 1st CLASS REQUIRED. Please see your instructor to schedule any make-ups. Items will be held for two months after your class. Please be sure to glaze and pick up your work within that window! Price: $450
